As part of our safeguarding 到舊procedures the following guidance is pr公林ovided specifically for our Host 喝電families.
As a host family, yo腦都u will be expected to protect the stud看愛ents that you host a街費nd you will be required to h慢影ave a valid Enhanced Discl草綠osure & Barring Se路吃rvice (DBS) check for each memb錢但er of the household or regular vi話火sitors aged 16 or over who will b黑海e present whilst student司湖s are staying with you.
l Be even handed in relationshi車從ps with UK Tuition Guardians s花有tudents – avoid the appearanc舞子e or the reality of favouritism 鐘影
l Be unambiguou章商s in your behaviour towards gue家朋st students
l Avoid secre和學cy and understand confidenti錯票ality

l Avoid being 會亮misinterpreted
l Understand issues concerning麗藍 physical restraint
l Avoid inviting U學站K Tuition Guardians’ student/s to ‘件花friend’ you on Facebook or other so國明cial media sites
Safe Care Plan
The host family should have due consi線視deration for the safe care of both 大計the student/s and yo鄉你ur family members. A SAF厭舞E CARE PLAN should be adopted an就答d may consider the f快很ollowing:
l Entering the Student’s Bedro謝慢om (appropriate, respectful, knocking a湖行nd allowing privacy)技身
l Bathroom Conduct and Routin間如es (All need to be able to 到章lock the door, and be given times if 是哥necessary)
l Medication loc媽上ked away
l Smoking by b子對oth family, friends and中風 possibly students (although it is厭公 banned at all boarding schools)
l Drinking alcoho海熱l, plus storage of alcoh劇藍ol both with family, friends, and the坐近 impact on students 科綠
l Friends visiting and their c湖麗onduct towards stude會飛nt/s
l Internet and telephone use (樹高see policy)
l Car driving – Who is allowed話樹 to drive the student/s and in which 金裡car?
l Bedtime routines and res到頻pect for privacy
l Sexual conduc姐劇t and demonstrating affection towa笑村rds both the student/s 到他and within the family
l Rules that may be non玩廠-negotiable or guidelines. Th能購ese may include:
Parent rooms are out of 動友bounds
Adult males should avoid being alone 中事in the bedroom or bathroom with a fema微資le student and should be ap章技propriately clothed
Bathroom routines
Breakfast (if late, may 紅離be DIY) and other meal times
It is also your responsibility to mak看坐e sure all electrical appliances 票南are safe, particularly in the studen生頻t’s room and we recommend P如信AT (Portable appliance testing) test生事ing each electrical 水跳appliance annually.&nbs科土p; All gas appliances are to be ins船道pected annually by a Gas Safe regist兒劇ered plumber, and a Gas Safety C低廠ertificate provided to U低輛K Tuition Guardians Office.知花 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alar器區ms MUST be fitted in the hous笑白e. Medicines and/or che地開micals must not be stor玩算ed unlocked in the student’s ba快白throom. Explain basic 上跳fire escape routes, ac謝火cess to the outside do懂可ors, and the location of any necessar西拿y keys. Please also ens要妹ure that they know to dial 999 f器說or Police, Fire or Ambulance sho校到uld any such emergency arise whilst t湖請hey are staying with you.算知
Missing Students
Unexplained student abse紙外nces or other situations affecting stud服南ent safety, should be rep我電orted to UK Tuition 河離Guardians immediately, via the emerg空不ency phone number (07887 718 愛黑838 / 07824 336 471).亮多 Specifically, should a student w船日ho is booked with a h亮見ost family not arrive within 2 hours 多弟of when they are expected, it is讀現 the duty of the host綠謝 family to advise us of 秒是this matter and we w事些ill follow up, taking all nec科年essary actions to locate t照用he student.
Each case will be dealt with indiv司司idually and relevant ac在很tions will be taken to loc影店ate the student. UK Tuition Guardians舞放 Limited will contact paren人愛ts where relevant. The loca道時l police may also be contacted. Whe照工n a child returns all rel腦少evant parties will be相近 informed.
Children Missing Education
1. All children, regardless of th拿林eir circumstances, are entit鐘林led to an efficient, full 家一time education which is su下長itable to their age, abilit就有y, aptitude and any spec廠公ial educational needs they ma舞裡y have.
2. Children missing educ知技ation are children of compulso多吃ry school age who are 弟雜not registered pupils at a school a風村nd are not receiving s喝微uitable education otherwise than at a s少票chool. Children miss線西ing education are at signifi讀花cant risk of underachieving, being vi動土ctims of harm, exploitation or radic問弟alisation, and becomi站生ng NEET (not in education, employmen些明t or training) later in life. &nbs腦紅p;
3. Effective information shar微我ing between parents, schools為票 and local authorities is crit時廠ical to ensuring that all children of c商自ompulsory school age ar時紅e safe and receiving suitable educati相兵on.
Hosts or parents must report im玩看mediately to UK Tuition 話黑Guardians Limited via the emerg體輛ency phone number (07887 718 838 / 玩刀07824 336 471) if they become have街靜 any concerns about a student missing e新人ducation. Our staff will then女樹 investigate fully to find out as much地鐵 as possible. UK Tuition will章得 liaise with parents員她, Hosts, schools and othe國對r relevant agencies to resolve the河討 situation and ensure that the s中很tudent continues their educati到習on.
Use of Computers and Internet
Since the development of re體慢sponsible, considerate and indepen光話dent use of computers and the inter秒笑net is important for a student’s喝上 education, but it is esse黑舊ntial to outline appropriate compute媽相r use and provide guideli年民nes as to their safe 北村use. Some material accessi說也ble via the internet may be illeg從亮al, defamatory, inaccu有計rate or potentially offensive. 爸購
Students should ensure m來明emory sticks or other st近雨orage media are free from computer viru錯他ses and any software on pe員計rsonally owned machines is 子林legally licensed.
Students are not allowed t說可o use the internet for any 票亮illegal activity, this樂就 includes accessing sites mean靜黃t for adults or 18 years or older 喝店such as pornographic or gambl文低ing sites. Students must no草微t search for, or browse thro低窗ugh, any sites that contain 自讀offensive, obscene, violent, da務鄉ngerous, inflammatory路場, racist or extremist materi亮女al. Downloading any unlicensed mat答得erial such as music,山街 video, TV programme麗視s, games and PDF files i麗輛s illegal and therefore 些雨not permitted.
Whilst use of social networking s村作ites has brought about a com機場munications revolution that 湖門gives young people unrivall區朋ed opportunities, it 好數also brings risks. 日國;It is important that stud爸可ents understand these risks, kn空人ow how to stay safe in thi離鄉s environment and how to avo聽時id making themselves用城 vulnerable to a range of issues行男 including identity theft, bull自知ying, harassment, grooming and abuse.&n女說bsp;They also need to learn how to av討了oid the risk of exposi為能ng themselves to subsequ身放ent embarrassment due to an 海訊inappropriate personal pr現算ofile or inclusion on others’ p議友rofile. The Child Exploitatio吧器n and Online Protection他算 body (CEOP) provides some use票離ful guidelines and advice for parent劇山s, guardians, host families and st少慢udents.
Any type of hacking (def房校ined as attempt to gain ac和鄉cess to folders, databases, or other m媽可aterial on the network to w工事hich one is not entitled) is considered信廠 to be an extremely serious offence. 城現To comply with the Computer M地花isuse Act 1990, any student who indulge土空s in hacking or is found with hackin道山g software/paraphernalia on their 請湖computer can expect to face開愛 serious consequences. Li坐公kewise, physical interference with any哥做 other computer is not tolerated. 美科
UK Tuition Guardians will not ac月看cept liability for the loss or da間民mage to any computers owned by the 雪長student or borrowed from any報算one.
